The noise is like a "honk" but continuous. Its a similar noise to an old hydraulic ram extending under heavy load. This has happened once going forwards and once going backwards but only when you arrive at FULL lock not on the way too.
The noise is like an electric motor dynamo noise, very off putting. My first thoughts is that it was a power streering pump on the top. Mines been replaced last week, by a large garage costing me £113 + fitting, noise was still there. I got it re-diagnosed and they have confirmed its the idler pulley, there are 2 idlers and 1 tensioner.
